the process

Plant dyes create deep and complex shades that seem to subtly change with the light. Although the same recipe is used for each batch, no two pieces will be identical in color. Each step in the process of crafting these napkins is done intentionally by hand in our Detroit studio. The result is an organic color and lightly textured piece that adds romantic and delicate beauty to any tablescape.

napkin care

All napkins are steamed and gently folded into a bundle before sending to you. Cotton gauze is naturally wrinkly, so no need to press as that is part of the beauty of the fabric. Napkins can be hand washed using a pH neutral soap in tepid water. They are machine washable, but due to the raw edges they may fray in the wash. If this happens simply cut the loose threads. We recommend using Dr. Bronner's castile soap and hanging to dry.

sustainably crafted

We utilize sustainability conscious practices to limit water wastage and recycle greywater for plant watering. We work with restaurants to collect food waste to create beautiful dyes from onion skins and avocado pits, as well as with florists to utilize leftover flowers from events. All plant material is composted after dyeing. Rosemarine Textiles is committed to sustainable and ethical sourcing of all fabrics, dye materials and packaging. All packaging can be reused or recycled. Please feel free to contact us for any questions regarding our sustainability policies.
